وَقَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: وَيُرْبِي الصَّدَقَاتِ ﴾(البقرة: ٢٧٦) ، وَقَوْلِهِ: وَلَكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّنَ وَ آتى الْمَالَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ۱ ذَوِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَالسَّابِلِينَ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَعَالَى الزَّكَوةَ (البقرة: ۱۷۷
۱ قوله : آتى المال: قال في المدارك»: المراد به نوافل الصدقات والمبار.
And the words of Allah, the Almighty: “And He increases charity.” (Al-Baqarah 2:276), and His words: “But righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask, and for freeing slaves.” (Al-Baqarah 2:177).

وَعَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ (رضي الله عنها) قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّ فِي الْمَالِ لَحَقًّا سِوَى الزَّكَاةِ، ثُمَّ تَلَا : لَيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ (البقرة: ١٧٧) الْآيَةَ. رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَه وَالدَّارِيُّ.
Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is a right in wealth besides Zakat.” Then he recited: “Righteousness is not in turning your faces toward the east or the west...” (Al-Baqarah 2:177). Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever gives charity equal to a date from good earnings, and Allah does not accept except what is good, Allah will accept it with His right hand and nurture it for its owner, just as one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ الصَّدَقَةَ مَاذَا هِيَ؟ قَالَ: «أَضْعَافُ مُضَاعَفَةٌ، وَعِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْمَزِيدُ. رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ.
Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “O Prophet of Allah, what is charity?” He said: “It is multiplied many times over, and with Allah is even more.” [Narrated by Ahmad]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : «مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ، وَمَا زَادَ اللهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوِ إِلَّا عِزًّا، وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمُ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Charity does not decrease wealth, and Allah increases the honor of the one who forgives. No one humbles himself for Allah except that Allah raises him.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْهُ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : مَنْ أَنْفَقَ زَوْجَيْنِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ مِنَ الْأَشْيَاءِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ دُعِيَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ، وَلِلْجَنَّةِ أَبْوَابُ، فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصَّلَاةِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجِهَادِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الْجِهَادِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصَّدَقَةِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصَّدَقَةِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصِّيَامِ دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الرَّيَّانِ». فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: مَا عَلَى مَنْ دُعِيَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْأَبْوَابِ مِنْ ضَرُورَةٍ، فَهَلْ يُدْعَى أَحَدٌ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْأَبْوَابِ كُلَّهَا؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، وَأَرْجُوْ أَنْ تَكُوْنَ مِنْهُمْ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever spends a pair in the way of Allah will be called from the gates of Paradise: ‘O servant of Allah, this is good.’ Paradise has gates, and whoever was among the people of prayer will be called from the gate of prayer. Whoever was among the people of jihad will be called from the gate of jihad. Whoever was among the people of charity will be called from the gate of charity. Whoever was among the people of fasting will be called from the gate of Ar-Rayyan.” Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “O Messenger of Allah, is there anyone who will be called from all these gates?” He said: “Yes, and I hope that you will be among them.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرَّ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ مُسْلِمٍ يُنْفِقُ مِنْ كُلِّ مَالٍ لَهُ زَوْجَيْنِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا اسْتَقْبَلَتْهُ حَجَبَةُ الْجَنَّةِ، كُلُّهُمْ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَى مَا عِنْدَهُ»، قُلْتُ: وَكَيْفَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: «إِنْ كَانَتْ إِبِلًا فَبَعِيرَيْنِ، وَإِنْ كَانَتْ بَقَرًا فَبَقَرَتَيْنِ. رَوَاهُ النَّسَائِيُّ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “No Muslim servant spends a pair from his wealth in the way of Allah except that the gatekeepers of Paradise will call him to what they have.” I asked: “How is that?” He said: “If it is camels, then two camels; if it is cattle, then two cattle.” [Narrated by Nasa’i]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ صَائِمًا؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. قَالَ: فَمَنْ تَبِعَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَازَةٌ؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «فَمَنْ أَطْعَمَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِسْكِيْنًا؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «فَمَنْ عَادَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مَرِيضًا؟» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَنَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَا اجْتَمَعْنَ فِي امْرِئٍ إِلَّا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ». رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked: “Who among you is fasting today?” Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I am.” He asked: “Who among you has followed a funeral today?” Abu Bakr said: “I have.” He asked: “Who among you has fed a poor person today?” Abu Bakr said: “I have.” He asked: “Who among you has visited a sick person today?” Abu Bakr said: “I have.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “These qualities do not come together in a person except that he enters Paradise.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْهُ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : يَا نِسَاءَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ، لَا تَحْقِرَنَّ جَارَةً الجَارِتِهَا وَلَوْ فِرْسَنَ شَاةٍ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “O Muslim women, let no neighbor look down on her neighbor, even if it is a sheep’s hoof.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ وَحُذَيْفَةَ (رضي الله عنهما) قَالَا : قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ: كُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Jabir and Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every good deed is charity.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ : لَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوْفِ شَيْئًا، وَلَوْ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهِ طَلِيْقٍ». رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do not belittle any good deed, even if it is meeting your brother with a cheerful face.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: كُلُّ مَعْرُوْفِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوْفِ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهِ طَلْقٍ، وَأَنْ تُفْرِغَ مِنْ دُلْوِكَ فِي إِنَاءِ أَخِيْكَ». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالتَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every good deed is charity. Among the good deeds is meeting your brother with a cheerful face and pouring water from your bucket into your brother’s vessel.” [Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ] صَدَقَةٌ، وَأَمْرُكَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَنَهْيُكَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَإِرْشَادُكَ الرَّجُلَ فِي أَرْضِ الضَّلَالِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَبَصَرُكَ لِلرَّجُلِ الرَّدِيْءِ الْبَصَرِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَإِمَاطَتُكَ الْحَجَرَ وَالشَّوْكَةَ وَالْعَظْمَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَإِفْرَاغُكَ مِنْ دَلْوِكَ فِي دَلْوِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ. رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Your smile at your brother is charity. Enjoining good and forbidding evil is charity. Guiding a man in a land of misguidance is charity. Helping a man with poor eyesight is charity. Removing a stone, thorn, or bone from the road is charity. Pouring water from your bucket into your brother’s bucket is charity.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي جُرَيٌّ جَابِرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَرَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ عَنْ رَأْيِهِ لَا يَقُوْلُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا صَدَرُوا عَنْهُ، قُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا رَسُوْلُ اللَّهِ. قَالَ: قُلْتُ: عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ، مَرَّتَيْنِ. قَالَ: «لَا تَقُلْ: عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ؛ فَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ تَحِيَّةُ الْمَيِّتِ، قُلْ : السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ». قُلْتُ: أَنْتَ رَسُوْلُ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَ: «أَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي الَّذِي إِذَا أَصَابَكَ ضُرٌّ فَدَعَوْتَهُ كَشَفَهُ عَنْكَ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَكَ عَامُ سَنَةٍ فَدَعَوْتَهُ أَنْبَتَهَا لَكَ، وَإِذَا كُنْتَ بِأَرْضِ قَفْرَاءَ أَوْ فَلَاةٍ فَضَلَّتْ رَاحِلَتُكَ فَدَعَوْتَهُ رَدَّهَا عَلَيْكَ». قُلْتُ: اعْهَدْ إِلَيَّ. قَالَ: «لَا تَسُبَّنَّ أَحَدًا» قَالَ: فَمَا سَبَبْتُ بَعْدَهُ حُرًّا وَلَا عَبْدًا وَلَا بَعِيرًا وَلَا شَاةً. قَالَ: «وَلَا تَحْقِرَنَّ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْمَعْرُوْفِ، وَأَنْ تُكَلَّمَ أَخَاكَ وَأَنْتَ مُنْبَسِطُ إِلَيْهِ وَجْهُكَ، إِنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوْفِ، وَارْفَعْ إِزَارَكَ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ، فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَإِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ، وَإِيَّاكَ وَإِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْمَخِيلَةِ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمَخِيلَةَ، وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ شَتَمَكَ وَعَيَّرَكَ بِمَا يَعْلَمُ فِيْكَ فَلَا تُعَيِّرْهُ بِمَا تَعْلَمُ فِيْهِ؛ فَإِنَّمَا وَبَالُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ». رواهُ أَبُوْ دَاوُدَ، وَرَوَى التَّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْهُ حَدِيثَ السَّلَامِ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فَيَكُوْنُ لَكَ أَجْرُ ذَلِكَ وَوَبَالُهُ عَلَيْهِ».
Abu Jurayy Jabir ibn Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “I came to Madinah and saw a man whose opinion people followed. He did not say anything except that people acted upon it. I asked: ‘Who is this?’ They said: ‘This is the Messenger of Allah.’ I said: ‘Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah,’ twice. He said: ‘Do not say: “Peace be upon you,” for that is the greeting of the dead. Say: “Peace be upon you.”’ I said: ‘Are you the Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘I am the Messenger of Allah. If harm befalls you and you call upon Him, He will remove it. If a year of drought befalls you and you call upon Him, He will make it grow for you. If you are in a barren land and your mount strays, and you call upon Him, He will return it to you.’ I said: ‘Advise me.’ He said: ‘Do not curse anyone.’ After that, I did not curse any free person, slave, camel, or sheep. He said: ‘Do not belittle any good deed, even if it is speaking to your brother with a cheerful face. That is a good deed. Raise your garment to mid-calf, and if you refuse, then to the ankles. Beware of letting your garment drag, for it is a sign of arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance. If someone insults you and shames you with what he knows about you, do not shame him with what you know about him, for the burden of that will be on him.’” [Narrated by Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi narrated the part about the greeting]
وَعَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : " عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ صَدَقَةٌ». قَالُوا: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ؟ قَالَ: «فَلْيَعْمَلْ بِيَدَيْهِ، فَيَنْفَعُ نَفْسَهُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ». قَالُوا: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَوْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ؟ قَالَ: «فَيُعِينُ ذَا الْحَاجَةِ الْمَلْهُوفَ» قَالُوا: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْهُ؟ قَالَ: «فَيَأْمُرُ بِالْخَيْرِ». قَالُوا: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ؟ قَالَ: «فَيُمْسِكُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ صَدَقَةٌ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every Muslim must give charity.” They said: “What if he cannot?” He said: “Let him work with his hands, benefit himself, and give charity.” They said: “What if he cannot do that?” He said: “Let him help someone in need.” They said: “What if he cannot do that?” He said: “Let him enjoin good.” They said: “What if he cannot do that?” He said: “Let him refrain from evil, for that is charity.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: كُلُّ سُلَامَى مِنَ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ صَدَقَةٌ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ تَطْلُعُ فِيهِ الشَّمْسُ يَعْدِلُ بَيْنَ الاثْنَيْنِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَيُعِينُ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فَيَحْمِلُ عَلَيْهَا أَوْ يَرْفَعُ عَلَيْهَا مَتَاعَهُ صَدَقَةٌ، وَالْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صَدَقَةٌ، وَكُلُّ خُطْوَةٍ يَخْطُوْهَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَيُمِيطُ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ صَدَقَةٌ مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every joint of a person must give charity every day the sun rises. Acting justly between two people is charity. Helping a man mount his animal or lifting his belongings onto it is charity. A good word is charity. Every step you take toward prayer is charity. Removing harm from the road is charity.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ (رضي الله عنها) قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: خُلِقَ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ عَلَى سِتِّينَ وَثَلَاثِ مِائَةِ مَفْصِلٍ، فَمَنْ كَبَّرَ اللَّهَ وَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَهَلَّلَ اللَّهَ وَسَبَّحَ اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ اللَّهَ وَعَزَلَ حَجَرًا عَنْ طَرِيقِ النَّاسِ أَوْ شَوْكَةً أَوْ عَظْمًا [عَنْ طَرِيقِ النَّاسِ وَأَمَرَ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ نَهَى عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ عَدَدَ تِلْكَ السِّتِّينَ وَالثَّلَاثِ مِائَةِ [السُّلَامَى فَإِنَّهُ يَمْشِي يَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَدْ] زَحْزَحَ نَفْسَهُ عَنِ النَّارِ». رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every human being is created with three hundred and sixty joints. Whoever glorifies Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah’s oneness, and removes a stone, thorn, or bone from the road, or enjoins good or forbids evil, to the number of those joints, he will walk on the Day of Resurrection having distanced himself from the Fire.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : مَرَّ رَجُلٌ بِغُصْنٍ شَجَرَةٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِ طَرِيقٍ، فَقَالَ: لَأُنَحَيَنَّ هَذَا عَنِ طَرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لَا يُؤْذِيهِمْ فَأُدْخِلَ بِهِ الْجَنَّةَ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A man passed by a branch of a tree on the road and said: ‘I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so it does not harm them.’ He was admitted to Paradise because of it.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْهُ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا يَتَقَلَّبُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فِي شَجَرَةٍ قَطَعَهَا مِنْ ظَهْرِ الطَّرِيقِ كَانَتْ تُؤْذِي النَّاسَ». رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “I saw a man enjoying himself in Paradise because of a tree he had cut from the road that was harming people.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ عَلَّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَنْتَفِعُ بِهِ، قَالَ: «اعْزِلِ الْأَذَى عَنْ طَرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “I said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, teach me something I can benefit from.’ He said: ‘Remove harm from the path of the Muslims.’” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّ بكل إِنَّ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةً، وَكُلِّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ، وَكُلِّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةً، وَكُلَّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةً، وَأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَنَهْيٌ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ صَدَقَةٌ، وَفِي بُضْعِ أَحَدِكُمْ صَدَقَةٌ»، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيَأْتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ وَيَكُوْنُ لَهُ فِيْهَا أَجْرُ؟ قَالَ: «أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ وَضَعَهَا فِي حَرَامٍ أَكَانَ عَلَيْهِ فِيْهَا وِزْرُ؟ فَكَذَلِكَ إِذَا وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلَالِ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُ». رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every glorification of Allah is charity. Every declaration of His greatness is charity. Every praise of Him is charity. Every declaration of His oneness is charity. Enjoining good is charity. Forbidding evil is charity. And in the sexual act of one of you is charity.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, does one of us fulfill his desire and receive reward for it?” He said: “Do you not see that if he had done it unlawfully, he would have sinned? Similarly, if he does it lawfully, he is rewarded.” [Narrated by Muslim]
وَعَنْ بُهَيْسَةَ عَنِ ابِيهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: «الْمَاءُ» قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ ، مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: «الْمِلْحُ» قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تَفْعَلَ الْخَيْرَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ». رَوَاهُ أَبُوْ دَاوُدَ.
Buhaysah reported from her father that she said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is the thing that it is not permissible to withhold?” He said: “Water.” She said: “O Prophet of Allah, what is the thing that it is not permissible to withhold?” He said: “Salt.” She said: “O Prophet of Allah, what is the thing that it is not permissible to withhold?” He said: “Doing good is better for you.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud]
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَغْرِسُ غَرْسًا أَوْ يَزْرَعُ زَرْعًا فَيَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ طَيْرُ أَوْ إِنْسَانُ أَوْ بَهِيمَةٌ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ [بِهِ] صَدَقَةٌ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ: وَمَا سُرِقَ [مِنْهُ] لَهُ صَدَقَةٌ».
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “No Muslim plants a tree or sows a crop, and a bird, human, or animal eats from it, except that it is charity for him.” [Agreed upon]
In a narration by Muslim from Jabir: “And whatever is stolen from it is charity for him.”
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَيْتَةً فَلَهُ فِيْهَا أَجْرُ، وَمَا أَكَلَتْ الْعَافِيَةُ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ صَدَقَةٌ». رَوَاهُ النَّسَائِيُّ وَالدَّارِيُّ.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever revives a dead land, he will have reward for it, and whatever is eaten from it by living beings is charity for him.” [Narrated by Nasa’i and Al-Darimi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : نِعْمَ الصَّدَقَةُ اللَّقْحَةُ الصَّفِيُّ مِنْحَةً۱، وَالشَّاةُ الصَّفِيُّ مِنْحَةً، تَغْدُوْ بِإِنَاءٍ وَتَرُوْحُ بِآخَرَ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The best charity is a milking she-camel given as a gift, and a milking sheep given as a gift, which goes out in the morning with a vessel and returns in the evening with another.” [Agreed upon]

1 The statement: “Given as a gift.” In Al-Bada’i: “If one gives a milking sheep, camel, or cow as a gift and says: ‘This sheep is a gift for you,’ or ‘This camel,’ or ‘This cow,’ it is considered a loan, and it is permissible for the recipient to benefit from its milk. Even though milk is a physical substance, it is considered a benefit by custom and practice, so it is treated as a benefit, as if he has permitted him to drink the milk. Thus, it is permissible for him to benefit from its milk.”
۱ قوله: منحة: وقال في البدائع: ولو منحه شاة حلوبًا أو ناقة حلوبًا أو بقرة حلوبا، وقال: هذه الشاة لك منحة، أو هذه الناقة، أو هذه البقرة كان عارية، وجاز له الانتفاع بلبنها؛ لأن اللبن وإن كان عينا حقيقة فهو معدود من المنافع عرفا وعادةً، فأعطى له حكم المنفعة، كأنه أباح له شرب اللبن، فيجوز له الانتفاع بلبنها.
وَعَنِ الْبَرَاءِ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ مَنَحَ مِنْحَةَ لَبَنٍ أَوْ وَرِقٍ أَوْ هَدَى زُقَاقًا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ عِتْقُ رَقَبَةٍ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Al-Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever gives a gift of milk, silver, or guides someone to a path, it is like freeing a slave.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ: غُفِرَ لِامْرَأَةٍ مُؤْمِسَةٍ مَرَّتْ بِكَلْبٍ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَبِّي يَلْهَثُ، [قَالَ: كَادَ يَقْتُلُهُ الْعَطَشُ فَنَزَعَتْ خُفَّهَا، فَأَوْثَقَتْهُ بِخِمَارِهَا، فَنَزَعَتْ لَهُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، فَغُفِرَ لَهَا بِذَلِكَ قِيلَ: إِنَّ لَنَا فِي الْبَهَائِمِ أَجْرًا؟ قَالَ: «فِي كُلِّ ذاتِ كَبِدٍ رَطَبَةٍ أَجْرُ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A sinful woman was forgiven because she passed by a dog panting on top of a well, almost dying of thirst. She took off her shoe, tied it with her headscarf, and drew water for it. She was forgiven because of that.” It was said: “Is there reward for us in animals?” He said: “There is reward in every living being.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ (رضي الله عنهما) وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَا : قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «عُذِّبَتْ امْرَأَةً فِي هِرَّةٍ أَمْسَكَتْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَتْ مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَلَمْ تَكُنْ تُطْعِمُهَا وَلَا تُرْسِلُهَا، فَتَأْكُلَ مِنْ خُشَاشِ الْأَرْضِ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A woman was punished because of a cat she confined until it died of hunger. She did not feed it or let it go to eat from the insects of the earth.” [Agreed upon]
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ جِئْتُ، فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنْتُ وَجْهَهُ عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ وَجْهَهُ لَيْسَ بِوَجْهِ كَذَّابٍ، فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَا قَالَ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ، وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ، وَصِلُوا الْأَرْحَامَ، وَصَلُّوْا بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ، تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهِ وَالدَّارِمِيُّ.
Abdullah ibn Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “When the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived in Madinah, I came to him. When I saw his face, I knew it was not the face of a liar. The first thing he said was: ‘O people, spread peace, feed the hungry, maintain family ties, and pray at night while people are asleep. You will enter Paradise in peace.’” [Narrated by Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Al-Darimi]
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو (رضي الله عنهما) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ: «اعْبُدُوا الرَّحْمَنَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ، وَأَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ، تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَه.
Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Worship the Most Merciful, feed the hungry, and spread peace. You will enter Paradise in peace.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah]
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ هُ: «إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَتُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ وَتَدْفَعُ مِيتَةَ السُّوْءِ. رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Charity extinguishes the anger of the Lord and prevents a bad death.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ مَرْتَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُوْلِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ ظِلَّ الْمُؤْمِنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَدَقَتُهُ». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ.
Martad ibn Abdullah reported that some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) narrated to him that they heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: “The shade of the believer on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” [Narrated by Ahmad]
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ (رضي الله عنها) أَنَّهُمْ ذَبَحُوا شَاةً، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ : «مَا بَقِيَ مِنْهَا؟ قَالَتْ: مَا بَقِيَ مِنْهَا إِلَّا كَتِفَهَا. قَالَ: «بَقِيَ كُلُّهَا غَيْرَ كَتِفِهَا». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَصَحَّحَهُ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that they slaughtered a sheep, and the Prophet (ﷺ) asked: “What is left of it?” She said: “Only its shoulder is left.” He said: “All of it is left except its shoulder.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi, who authenticated it]
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُوْدٍ (رضي الله عنه) يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ: «ثَلَاثَةٌ يُحِبُّهُمُ اللَّهُ: رَجُلٌ قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَتْلُوْ كِتَابَ اللهِ، وَرَجُلٌ تَصَدَّقَ صَدَقَةً بِيَمِينِهِ يُخْفِيْهَا أُرَاهُ قَالَ: مِنْ شِمَالِهِ، وَرَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَانْهَزَمَ أَصْحَابُهُ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْعَدُوْ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated in a marfu’ narration: “Three people are loved by Allah: a man who stands at night reciting the Book of Allah, a man who gives charity with his right hand and conceals it from his left hand, and a man who is in a military expedition and his companions flee, but he faces the enemy.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ : ثَلَاثَةٌ يُحِبُّهُمْ اللَّهُ وَثَلَاثَةٌ يُبْغِضُهُمُ اللَّهُ. فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّهُمُ اللهُ فَرَجُلٌ أَتَى قَوْمًا فَسَأَلَهُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَلَمْ يَسْأَلُهُمْ بِقَرَابَةٍ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُمْ، فَمَنَعُوْهُ، فَتَخَلَّفَ رَجُلٌ بِأَعْقَابِهِمْ، فَأَعْطَاهُ سِرًّا لَا يَعْلَمُ بِعَطِيَّتِهِ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَالَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ، وَقَوْمُ سَارُوا لَيْلَتَهُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ النَّوْمُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِمَّا يُعْدَلُ بِهِ نَزَلُوا فَوَضَعُوْا رُؤُوْسَهُمْ، فَقَامَ أَحَدُهُمْ يَتَمَلَّقُنِي وَيَتْلُوْ آيَاتِي، وَرَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ، فَلَقِيَ الْعَدُوْ فَهُزِمُوا، وَأَقْبَلَ بِصَدْرِهِ حَتَّى يُقْتَلَ أَوْ يُفْتَحَ لَهُ. وَالثَّلَاثَةُ الَّذِينَ يُبْغِضُهُمُ اللَّهُ الشَّيْخُ الزَّانِي، وَالْفَقِيرُ الْمُخْتَالُ، وَالْغَنِيُّ الظَّلُوْمُ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ.
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Three are loved by Allah, and three are hated by Allah. Those loved by Allah are: a man who comes to a people and asks them by Allah, not by any kinship between him and them, but they refuse him, so a man stays behind and gives him secretly, so that no one knows of his gift except Allah and the one who gave it; a people who travel at night until sleep becomes dearer to them than anything else, so they stop and rest, and one of them stands and flatters me and recites My verses; and a man who is in a military expedition, and his companions flee, but he faces the enemy until he is killed or victory is achieved. The three hated by Allah are: the old adulterer, the poor show-off, and the oppressive rich man.” [Narrated by Tirmidhi and Nasa’i]
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ(رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْأَرْضَ جَعَلَتْ تَمِيدُ، فَخَلَقَ الْجِبَالَ فَقَالَ بِهَا عَلَيْهَا ، فَاسْتَقَرَّتْ فَعَجِبَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْجِبَالِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَبِّ، هَلْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، الْحَدِيدُ. فَقَالُوا: يَا رَبِّ، فَهَلْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الْحَدِيدِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ ، النَّارُ . فَقَالُوا: يَا رَبِّ، فَهَلْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدُّ مِنَ النَّارِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، الْمَاءُ. فَقَالُوا: يَا رَبِّ، فَهَلْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الْمَاءِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، الرِّيحُ فَقَالُوا: يَا رَبِّ، فَهَلْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ شَيْءٌ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الرِّيحِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، ابْنُ آدَمَ، تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ بِيَمِينِهِ يُخْفِيهَا مِنْ شِمَالِهِ». رَوَاهُ التَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When Allah created the earth, it began to shake. He created the mountains and placed them on it, and it became stable. The angels were amazed at the strength of the mountains. They said: ‘O Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than the mountains?’ He said: ‘Yes, iron.’ They said: ‘O Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than iron?’ He said: ‘Yes, fire.’ They said: ‘O Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than fire?’ He said: ‘Yes, water.’ They said: ‘O Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than water?’ He said: ‘Yes, wind.’ They said: ‘O Lord, is there anything in Your creation stronger than wind?’ He said: ‘Yes, the son of Adam, who gives charity with his right hand and conceals it from his left hand.’” [Narrated by Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ كَسَا مُسْلِمًا ثَوْبًا عَلَى عُرْبٍ كَسَاهُ اللهُ مِنْ خُضْرِ الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ أَطْعَمَ مُسْلِمًا عَلَى جُمْعٍ أَطْعَمَهُ اللهُ مِنْ ثِمَارِ الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ سَقَى مُسْلِمًا عَلَى ظَمَا سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الرَّحِيقِ الْمَخْتُوْمِ». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالتَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Any Muslim who clothes a Muslim in need, Allah will clothe him from the green garments of Paradise. Any Muslim who feeds a Muslim in need, Allah will feed him from the fruits of Paradise. Any Muslim who gives water to a Muslim in need, Allah will give him from the sealed pure drink.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi]
وَعَنِ ابْنِ قَالَ عَبَّاسِ (رضي الله عنهما): سَمِعْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُوْلُ: «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ كَسَا مُسْلِمًا ثَوْبًا إِلَّا كَانَ فِي حِفْظُ مِنَ اللهِ مَا دَامَ مِنْهُ عَلَيْهِ خِرْقَةٌ». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالتَّرْمِذِيُّ.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “No Muslim clothes another Muslim except that he remains under the protection of Allah as long as a thread of that garment remains on him.” [Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidhi]
وَعَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ أُمَّ سَعْدٍ مَاتَتْ، فَأَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: «الْمَاءُ» فَحَفَرَ بِثْرًا، وَقَالَ: هَذِهِ لِأُمِّ سَعْدٍ. رَوَاهُ أَبُوْ دَاوُدَ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ.
Sa’d ibn Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. What is the best charity I can give on her behalf?” He said: “Water.” So he dug a well and said: “This is for Umm Sa’d.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud and Nasa’i]
وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ وَسَّعَ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ فِي نَفَقَةٍ يَوْمَ عَاشُوْرَاءَ وَسَّعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِرَ سَنَتِهِ». قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: إِنَّا قَدْ جَرَّبْنَاهُ فَوَجَدْنَاهُ كَذَلِكَ، رَوَاهُ رَزِينٌ.
وَرَوَى الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي شُعَبِ الْإِيْمَانِ عَنْهُ وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَجَابِرٍ (رضي الله عنهم) وَضَعَّفَهُ. قَالَ الْعِرَاقِيُّ: لَهُ طُرُقُ، صَحِيحُ بَعْضُهَا وَبَعْضُهَا عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ.
Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever is generous to his family on the day of Ashura, Allah will be generous to him for the rest of the year.” Sufyan said: “We have tried this and found it to be true.” [Narrated by Razin]
Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in Shu’ab Al-Iman from him, Abu Hurairah, Abu Sa’id, and Jabir, but he weakened it. Al-Iraqi said: “It has chains, some of which are authentic, and some meet the conditions of Muslim.”
