Indeed, Allah has heard the argument of the woman who pleaded with you ˹O Prophet˺ concerning her husband, and appealed to Allah. Allah has heard your exchange. Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

Allah hath heard the saying of her that disputeth with thee (Muhammad) concerning her husband, and complaineth unto Allah. And Allah heareth your colloquy. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower.

GOD has indeed heard the words of her who pleads with thee concerning her husband, and complains Unto God. And God does hear what you both have to say: verily, God is all-hearing, all-seeing.

Surely, Allah heard the speech of her who pleads with you regarding her husband and makes her complaint to Allah and Allah is hearing the conversation of you two. Verily Allah Hears Beholds.

Indeed, Allah has heard the words of the woman who was arguing with you about her husband and was pleading with Allah. And Allah was hearing the mutual questions and answers of both of you. Surely, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing

Those of you who ˹sinfully˺ divorce their wives by comparing them to their mothers ˹should know that˺ their wives are in no way their mothers. None can be their mothers except those who gave birth to them. What they say is certainly detestable and false. Yet Allah is truly Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving.

Such of you as put away your wives (by saying they are as their mothers) - They are not their mothers; none are their mothers except those who gave them birth - they indeed utter an ill word and a lie. And lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

As for those of you who [henceforth] separate themselves from their wives by saying, “Thou art as unlawful to me as my mother”, [let them bear in mind that] they can never be [as] their mothers: none are their mothers save those who gave them birth: and so, behold, they but utter a saying that runs counter to reason, and is [therefore] false. But, behold, God is indeed an absolver of sins, much-forgiving:

Those of you who leave their wives calling them as their mothers, they are not their mothers. Their mother is only those who gave them birth, and they certainly utter evil and purely false words. And undoubtedly, Allah is necessarily pardoning Forgiving.

Those of you who separate their wives by zihar (i.e., they say to their wives: You are to me as my mother’s back. But by saying this) they do not become their mothers. Their mothers are only those who have given them birth. And no doubt they utter evil and false words. Surely, Allah is Most Forbearing, Most Forgiving

3

Those who divorce their wives in this manner, then ˹wish to˺ retract what they said, must free a slave before they touch each other. This ˹penalty˺ is meant to deter you. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

Those who put away their wives (by saying they are as their mothers) and afterward would go back on that which they have said, (the penalty) in that case (is) the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. Unto this ye are exhorted; and Allah is Informed of what ye do.

hence, as for those who would separate themselves from their wives by saying, “Thou art as unlawful to me as my mother”, and thereafter would go back on what they have said, [their atonement] shall be the freeing of a human being from bondage before the couple may touch one another again: this you are [hereby] exhorted to do - for God is fully aware of all that you do.

And those who call their wives as in place of their mothers then wish to retract what they have Said, it is then incumbent upon them to free a slave before they touch each other, This is what you are admonished with, and Allah is Aware of your doings.

And those who separate their wives by zihar, but then seek to go back on what they have said, setting free a neck (a slave) is obligatory before they touch each other. This is what you are admonished. And Allah is Well Aware of the works that you do

4

But if the husband cannot afford this, let him then fast two consecutive months before the couple touch each other. But if he is unable ˹to fast˺, then let him feed sixty poor people. This is to re-affirm your faith in Allah and His Messenger. These are the limits set by Allah. And the disbelievers will suffer a painful punishment.

And he who findeth not (the wherewithal), let him fast for two successive months before they touch one another; and for him who is unable to do so (the penance is) the feeding of sixty needy ones. This, that ye may put trust in Allah and His messenger. Such are the limits (imposed by Allah); and for disbelievers is a painful doom.

However, he who does not have the wherewithal shall fast [instead] for two consecutive months before the couple may touch one another again; and he who is unable to do it shall feed sixty needy ones: this, so that you might prove your faith in God and His Apostle. Now these are the bounds set by God; and grievous suffering [in the life to come] awaits all who deny the truth.

But whoso finds not a slave he should fast for two months continuously before they touch each other, and if any one is unable to fast, then he should feed sixty Poor people This is so that you may believe in Allah and His Messenger. These are the limits of Allah, and for the infidels is a painful torment.

But the one who does not find (a slave) must fast for two consecutive months (as an obligation) before they touch each other. Then someone who is unable to do that must feed sixty poor people (under obligation). That is in order that you may keep your belief in Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him). And these are the limits (set by) Allah. And there is a painful punishment for the disbelievers

5

Indeed, those who defy Allah and His Messenger will be debased, just like those before them. We have certainly sent down clear revelations. And the disbelievers will suffer a humiliating punishment.

Lo! those who oppose Allah and His messenger will be abased even as those before them were abased; and We have sent down clear tokens, and for disbelievers is a shameful doom

Verily, those who contend against God and His Apostle shall be brought low even as those [evildoers] who lived before them were brought low after We had bestowed [on them] clear messages from on high. And [so,] for those who deny the truth there will be shameful suffering in store

Undoubtedly, those who oppose Allah and his Messenger, were abased as those before them were abased; and We have undoubtedly sent down bright signs. And for the disbelievers is an humiliating punishment.

Indeed, those who maintain rivalry against Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) will be humiliated as those before them were humiliated. And surely, We have sent down clear Revelations, and there is humiliating torment for the disbelievers

On the Day Allah resurrects them all together, He will then inform them of what they have done. Allah has kept account of it all, while they have forgotten it. For Allah is a Witness over all things.

On the day when Allah will raise them all together and inform them of what they did. Allah hath kept account of it while they forgot it. And Allah is Witness over all things.

on the Day when God will raise them all from the dead and will make them truly understand all that they did [in life]: God will have taken [all of] it into account, even though they [themselves] may have forgotten it - for God is witness unto everything.

The day Allah will raise them all together; He will inform them of their doings Allah has a ready kept an account of it, while they forgot it. And everything is before Allah

On the Day when Allah will raise them up (giving life again), He will then inform them of their actions. Allah has counted up (their) every action whilst they have forgotten it. And Allah is Witness over (and Well Aware of) everything

Do you not see that Allah knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth? If three converse privately, He is their fourth. If five, He is their sixth. Whether fewer or more, He is with them wherever they may be. Then, on the Day of Judgment, He will inform them of what they have done. Surely Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.

Hast thou not seen that Allah knoweth all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth? There is no secret conference of three but He is their fourth, nor of five but He is their sixth, nor of less than that or more but He is with them wheresoever they may be; and afterward, on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Lo! Allah is Knower of all things.

ART THOU NOT aware that God knows all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth? Never can there be a secret confabulation between three persons without His being the fourth of them, nor between five without His being the sixth of them; and neither between less than that, or more, without His being with them wherever they may he. But in the end, on Resurrection Day, He will make them truly understand what they did: for, verily, God has full knowledge of everything.

'O listener! Have you seen that Allah knows what ever is in the heavens and what ever is in the earth? Where there is secret counsel of three then the fourth is He. And of five then the sixth is He neither less than that nor more but He is with them wherever they may be. Then on the Day of Resurrection He will informs them of what they did Undoubtedly, Allah knows all things

(O man!) Do you not know that Allah knows all those things which are in the heavens and in the earth? There is no whisper of three (men) anywhere but He is their fourth (with His all-encompassing knowledge and awareness). Nor is there any whisper of five (men) but He is the sixth of them (with His all-encompassing knowledge). Nor of less or more than that but He is (always) with them wherever they are. Then on the Day of Rising, He will alert them to the actions that they used to do. Surely, Allah knows everything full well

Have you not seen those who were forbidden from secret talks, yet they ˹always˺ return to what they were forbidden from, conspiring in sin, aggression, and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you ˹O Prophet˺, they greet you not as Allah greets you, and say to one another, “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” Hell is enough for them—they will burn in it. And what an evil destination!

Hast thou not observed those who were forbidden conspiracy and afterward returned to that which they had been forbidden, and (now) conspire together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger? And when they come unto thee they greet thee with a greeting wherewith Allah greeteth thee not, and say within themselves: Why should Allah punish us for what we say? Hell will suffice them; they will feel the heat thereof - a hapless journey's end!

Art thou not aware of such as have been forbidden [to intrigue through] secret confabulations, and yet [always] revert to that which they have been forbidden, and conspire with one another with a view to sinful doings, and aggressive conduct, and disobedience to the Apostle? Now whenever such [people] approach thee, [O Muhammad,] they salute thee with a greeting which God has never countenanced; and they say to themselves, “Why does not God chastise us for what we are saying?” Hell shall be their allotted portion: they shall [indeed] enter it - and how vile a journey’s end!

Have you not seen them who were forbidden from evil counsels, then they do the same of what they were forbidden, And counsel among themselves of sin and transgressions and dis-obedience to the Messenger. And they come to you, they greet you with the words with which Allah has not greeted you and they say within themselves; why does Allah not punish us, for what we utter. Sufficient to them is Hell wherein they shall be thrust, what an evil end it is.

Have you not seen those who were forbidden to whisper? Then they started doing the same that they were forbidden to do. And they whisper about sin and revolt and disobedience to the (Holy) Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him), and when they come to your presence, they greet you with the (unbecoming) words with which Allah has not greeted you and say in their hearts: ‘(If this Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] is truthful then) why does Allah not punish us for what we say?’ (The punishment of) Hell is sufficient for them. They will enter it and it is an extremely evil abode

O believers! When you converse privately, let it not be for sin, aggression, or disobedience to the Messenger, but let it be for goodness and righteousness. And fear Allah, to Whom you will ˹all˺ be gathered.

O ye who believe! When ye conspire together, conspire not together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger, but conspire together for righteousness and piety, and keep your duty toward Allah, unto whom ye will be gathered.

[Hence,] O you who have attained to faith, when you do hold secret confabulations, do not conspire with one another with a view to sinful doings, and aggressive conduct, and disobedience to the Apostle, but [rather] hold counsel in the cause of virtue and God-consciousness: and [always] remain conscious of God, unto whom you all shall be gathered.

'O believers! When you counsel among yourselves, counsel not for sin and transgression and disobedience to the Messenger and counsel for virtue and piety, and fear Allah towards Whom you shall be gathered

O believers! When you whisper amongst yourselves, whisper not sin, injustice, revolt and disobedience to the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him); but whisper piety and Godwariness and keep fearing Allah before Whom you all will be gathered

Secret talks are only inspired by Satan to grieve the believers. Yet he cannot harm them whatsoever except by Allah’s Will. So in Allah let the believers put their trust.

Lo! Conspiracy is only of the devil, that he may vex those who believe; but he can harm them not at all unless by Allah's leave. In Allah let believers put their trust.

[All other kinds of] secret confabulations are but of Satan’s doing, so that he might cause grief to those who have attained to faith; yet he cannot harm them in the least, unless it be by God’s leave: in God, then, let the believers place their trust!

That secret counsel is only from satan (Devil) in order that he may grieve the believers and he cannot harm them at all without Allah's leave. And the muslims should rely upon Allah only.

(Negative and destructive) whispering is (employed) by Satan alone so that he may cause anguish to the believers. But in truth, he (Satan) cannot do any harm to them (the believers) except by Allah’s command. And the believers should trust Allah alone

O believers! When you are told to make room in gatherings, then do so. Allah will make room for you ˹in His grace˺. And if you are told to rise, then do so. Allah will elevate those of you who are faithful, and ˹raise˺ those gifted with knowledge in rank. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

O ye who believe! when it is said unto you, Make room! in assemblies, then make room; Allah will make way for you (hereafter). And when it is said, Come up higher! go up higher; Allah will exalt those who believe among you, and those who have knowledge, to high ranks. Allah is Informed of what ye do.

O YOU who have attained to faith! When you are told, “Make room for one another in your collective life”, do make room: [and in return,] God will make room for you [in His grace]. And whenever you are told, “Rise up [for a good deed]”, do rise up; [and] God will exalt by [many] degrees those of you who have attained to faith and, [above all,] such as have been vouchsafed [true] knowledge: for God is fully aware of all that you do.

'O believers! When it is said to you; make room in assemblies, then do make room; Allah will make room for you. And when it is said, 'rise up, then rise up; Allah will raise, in degree, those of you who believe and those who are endowed with knowledge. And Allah is Aware of your doings.

O believers! When it is said to you: ‘Open up and make room in your gatherings,’ then open up and make room. Allah will provide you with ample room. And when it is said: ‘Rise up,’ then rise up. Allah will raise those in ranks who believe from amongst you and who are given knowledge. And Allah is Well Aware of the works that you do

O believers! When you consult the Messenger privately, give something in charity before your consultation. That is better and purer for you. But if you lack the means, then Allah is truly All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

O ye who believe! When ye hold conference with the messenger, offer an alms before your conference. That is better and purer for you. But if ye cannot find (the wherewithal) then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

O YOU who have attained to faith! Whenever you [intend to] consult the Apostle, offer up something in charity on the occasion of your consultation: this will be for your own good, and more conducive to your [inner] purity. Yet if you are unable to do so, [know that,] verily, God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.

'O believers! When you desire to say anything secretly to the Messenger, then give some alms before your submission. This is better for you and purer. But if you are unable to give anything then Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

O believers! When you seek to submit some secret to the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) in private, give something in charity before you submit your secret. This (action) is better and purer for you. But if you do not find anything (to offer in charity), then Allah is Most Forgiving, Ever-Merciful

Are you afraid of spending in charity before your private consultations ˹with him˺? Since you are unable to do so, and Allah has turned to you in mercy, then ˹continue to˺ establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

Fear ye to offer alms before your conference? Then, when ye do it not and Allah hath forgiven you, establish worship and pay the poor-due and obey Allah and His messenger. And Allah is Aware of what ye do.

Do you, perchance, fear lest [you may be sinning if] you cannot offer up anything in charity on the occasion of your consultation [with the Apostle]? But if you fail to do it [for lack of opportunity], and God turns unto you in His mercy, remain but constant in prayer and render [no more than] the purifying dues, and [thus] pay heed unto God and His Apostle: for God is fully aware of all that you do.

Are you afraid of giving alms before your submission? But when you did not do so and Allah turned to you with His mercy, then keep up the prayer and pay poor due (Zakat) and remain obedient to Allah and His Messenger. And Allah is Aware of your doings.

Are you worried about donating in charity before your submission to the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) in secret? So when you did not do (that) and Allah lifted from you probe (i.e., relaxed this restriction), then establish Prayer and pay Zakat (the Alms-due) and obey Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) persistently. And Allah is Well Aware of all the deeds that you do

Have you not seen those ˹hypocrites˺ who ally themselves with a people with whom Allah is displeased? They are neither with you nor with them. And they swear to lies knowingly.

Hast thou not seen those who take for friends a folk with whom Allah is wroth? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear a false oath knowingly.

ART THOU NOT aware of those who would be friends with people whom God has condemned? They are neither of you [O believers] nor of those [who utterly reject the truth]: and so they swear to a falsehood the while they know [it to be false].

Have you not seen those who took for friends a people upon whom is Allah's wrath? They are neither of you nor of them, they swear falsely knowingly.

Have you not seen those who make friends with such a party upon whom Allah sent wrath? They are neither of you nor of them and they take false oaths whilst they know

Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment. Evil indeed is what they do.

Allah hath prepared for them a dreadful doom. Evil indeed is that which they are wont to do.

God has readied for them suffering severe [in the life to come]. Behold, evil indeed is what they are wont to do:

Allah has already kept prepared severe torment for them. Undoubtedly, they do most evil works.

Allah has prepared for them severe punishment. Indeed, it is an evil (work) that they are doing

They have made their ˹false˺ oaths as a shield, hindering ˹others˺ from the cause of Allah. So they will suffer a humiliating punishment.

They make a shelter of their oaths and turn (men) from the way of Allah; so theirs will be a shameful doom.

they have made their oaths a cover [for their falseness], and thus they turn others away from the path of God: hence, shameful suffering awaits them.

They have taken their oaths as shield, and they hindered from the way of Allah, for them, therefore, is the humiliating torment.

They have made their (false) oaths a shield. So they hinder (others) from the way of Allah. Consequently, there is a humiliating punishment for them

Neither their wealth nor children will be of any help to them against Allah whatsoever. It is they who will be the residents of the Fire. They will be there forever.

Their wealth and their children will avail them naught against Allah. Such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein.

Neither their worldly possessions nor their offspring will be of the least avail to them against God: it is they who are destined for the fire, therein to abide!

Their riches and their children will avail them nothing against Allah. They are men of Hell wherein they shall abide.

Neither their wealth nor their children will ever be able to save them from (the punishment of) Allah. It is they who are the inmates of Hell. They will live in it forever

On the Day Allah resurrects them all, they will ˹falsely˺ swear to Him as they swear to you, thinking they have something to stand on. Indeed, it is they who are the ˹total˺ liars.

On the day when Allah will raise them all together, then will they swear unto Him as they (now) swear unto you, and they will fancy that they have some standing. Lo! is it not they who are the liars?

On the Day when God will raise them all from the dead, they will swear before Him as they [now] swear before you, thinking that they are on firm ground [in their assumptions]. Oh, verily, it is they, they who are the [greatest] liars!

The day when Allah will raise them all together then they will swear before Him as they are swearing before you and they think that they have done something. Do you hear? undoubtedly, they are the liars.

The Day when Allah will raise up all of them (giving life a second time), they will swear to Him (as well) as they swear to you. And they assume that they are on a (right) thing (i.e., path). Beware! They are liars

Satan has taken hold of them, causing them to forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Satan. Surely Satan’s party is bound to lose.

The devil hath engrossed them and so hath caused them to forget remembrance of Allah. They are the devil's party. Lo! is it not the devil's party who will be the losers?

Satan has gained mastery over them, and has caused them to remain oblivious of the remembrance of God. Such as these are Satan’s partisans: oh, verily, it is they, the partisans of Satan, who will truly be the losers!

Satan (the devil) has got control over them and has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Satan. Do you hear? undoubtedly, it is the party of Satan that are the losers.

Satan has gained mastery over them. So he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. It is they who are Satan’s army. Know that indeed it is the party of Satan who are the losers

˹As for˺ those who defy Allah and His Messenger, they will definitely be among the most debased.

Lo! those who oppose Allah and His messenger, they will be among the lowest.

Verily, those who contend against God and His Apostle - it is they who [on Judgment Day] shall find themselves among the most abject.

Undoubtedly, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, they are amongst the lowest.

Surely, those who maintain enmity against Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him), it is they who are of the lowest of mankind

Allah has decreed, “I and My messengers will certainly prevail.” Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.

Allah hath decreed: Lo! I verily shall conquer, I and My messengers. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty.

[For] God has thus ordained: “I shall most certainly prevail, I and My apostles!” Verily, God is powerful, almighty!

Allah has already decreed that most surely I will prevail I and My Messenger. Undoubtedly Allah is Powerful, Dignified.

Allah has destined: ‘Most certainly, I and My Messengers will dominate.’ Surely, Allah is Most Strong, Almighty

You will never find a people who ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day loyal to those who defy Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their parents, children, siblings, or extended family. For those ˹believers˺, Allah has instilled faith in their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. They are the party of Allah. Indeed, Allah’s party is bound to succeed.

Thou wilt not find folk who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brethren or their clan. As for such, He hath written faith upon their hearts and hath strengthened them with a Spirit from Him, and He will bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide. Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. They are Allah's party. Lo! is it not Allah's party who are the successful?

Thou canst not find people who [truly] believe in God and the Last Day and [at the same time] love anyone who contends against God and His Apostle - even though they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or [others of] their kindred. [As for the true believers,] it is they in whose hearts He has inscribed faith, and whom He has strengthened with inspiration from Himself, and whom [in time] He will admit into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide. Well-pleased is God with them, and well-pleased are they with Him. They are God’s partisans: oh, verily, it is they, the partisans of God, who shall attain to a happy state!

You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the last Day taking as their friends those who opposed Allah and His Messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brotheren or their kinsmen. These are they in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and helped them with a spirit from Himself, and will make them enter gardens beneath which flow streams, abiding therein, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah. This is Allah's party. Do you hear'? it is Allah's party that is successful

You will never find those who believe in Allah and the Day of Rising making friends with anyone who is hostile to Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him), even though they are their fathers (and forefathers), or their sons (and grandsons), or their brothers, or their near relatives. It is they in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and has strengthened them with His spirit (i.e., special spiritual benefit). And He will admit them to the Gardens with streams flowing under them. They will live in them forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah. It is they who are the party of (the devotees of) Allah. Remember! It is the party of (the devotees of) Allah that attain to the goal
