The Striking Disaster!
The Calamity!
OH, the sudden calamity!
The frightening calamity
The high-scale jolt rocking (the whole universe of the heavens and the earth) and thunder
What is the Striking Disaster?
What is the Calamity?
How awesome the sudden calamity!
What is that frightening calamity
And what is that high-scale jolt rocking (everything) and that thunder
And what will make you realize what the Striking Disaster is?
Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is!
And what could make thee conceive what that sudden calamity will be?
And what has made you known what is the frightening calamity?
And what have you made out what the high-scale jolt and thunder implies
˹It is˺ the Day people will be like scattered moths,
A day wherein mankind will be as thickly-scattered moths
[It will occur] on the Day when men will be like moths swarming in confusion,
The day when mankind shall be like scattered moths.
(It implies) the Day of Resurrection when (the whole of) mankind will become like scattered moths
and the mountains will be like carded wool.
And the mountains will become as carded wool.
and the mountains will be like fluffy tufts of wool....
And the mountains shall be carded wool.
And the mountains will be like multicoloured carded wool
So as for those whose scale is heavy ˹with good deeds˺,
Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works),
And then, he whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance
Then as for him whose weight is heavy,
So he whose scales of deeds in the balance will be heavy
they will be in a life of bliss.
He will live a pleasant life.
shall find himself in a happy' state of life;
He is in a pleasing life
He will be in luxury and delight
And as for those whose scale is light,
But as for him whose scales are light,
whereas he whose weight is light in the balance
And as for him whose weight is light,
But as for him whose scales of deeds in the balance will be light
their home will be the abyss.
A bereft and Hungry One will be his mother,
shall be engulfed by an abyss.
He is in the lap of abyss.
His abode will be Hawiya (a pit in Hell)
And what will make you realize what that is?
Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is! -
And what could make thee conceive what that [abyss] will be?
And what made you known what the abyss is?
And what have you made out what that (Hawiya) is
˹It is˺ a scorching Fire.
Raging Fire.
A fire hotly burning!
A fire blazing.
It is (an extremely deep pit of) the fiercely Blazing Fire (of Hell)
