95. Sūrat At-Tin · The Fig

Meccan · 8 verses
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِبِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
وَالتِّيْنِ وَالزَّيْتُوْنِ ۝١ۙوَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونِ ١

By the fig and the olive ˹of Jerusalem˺,

By the fig and the olive,

CONSIDER the fig and the olive,

By the Fig and the Olive.

By the fig and by the olive

2
وَطُوْرِ سِيْنِيْنَ ۝٢ۙوَطُورِ سِينِينَ ٢

and Mount Sinai,

By Mount Sinai,

and Mount Sinai,

And by Mount Sinai.

And by (Mount) Tur of Sinai

وَهٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْاَمِيْنِ ۝٣ۙوَهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ ٱلۡأَمِينِ ٣

and this secure city ˹of Mecca˺!

And by this land made safe;

and this land secure!

And by this city of Security.

And by this city of peace (Mecca)

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ فِيْٓ اَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيْمٍ ۝٤ؗلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمٖ ٤

Indeed, We created humans in the best form.

Surely We created man of the best stature

Verily, We create man in the best conformation;

Undoubtedly, We have made man in the fairest stature.

Indeed, We have created man in the best constitution (equipoised in the finest proportion)

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنٰهُ اَسْفَلَ سٰفِلِيْنَ ۝٥ۙثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ ٥

But We will reduce them to the lowest of the low ˹in Hell˺,

Then we reduced him to the lowest of the low,

and thereafter We reduce him to the lowest of low

Then We restored him to the condition of the lowest of the low

Then We returned him to the lowest state of the low

اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَلَهُمْ اَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُوْنٍ ۝٦ؕإِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونٖ ٦

except those who believe and do good—they will have a never-ending reward.

Save those who believe and do good works, and theirs is a reward unfailing.

excepting only such as attain to faith and do good works: and theirs shall be a reward unending!

But those who believed and did good deeds, for them there is an unending reward.

Except for those who believe and do good works. For them is an unending (i.e., everlasting) reward

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّيْنِ ۝٧ؕفَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعۡدُ بِٱلدِّينِ ٧

Now, what makes you deny the ˹final˺ Judgment?

So who henceforth will give the lie to thee about the judgment?

What, then, [O man,] could henceforth cause thee to give the lie to this moral law?

What! Then now causes you to belie the judgement?

Then who denies you after this regarding the Din (Religion or the Last Hour and reward and punishment)

اَلَيْسَ اللّٰهُ بِاَحْكَمِ الْحٰكِمِيْنَ ۝٨ࣖأَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحۡكَمِ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ ٨

Is Allah not the most just of all judges?

Is not Allah the most conclusive of all judges?

Is not God the most just of judges?

Is not Allah the Greatest of all rulers?

Is Allah not the Greatest of all the rulers
