87. Sūrat Al-A'la · The Most High
Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,
Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High,
EXTOL the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's name: [the glory of] the Al-Highest,
Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High.
Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High
Who created and ˹perfectly˺ fashioned ˹all˺,
Who createth, then disposeth;
who creates [every thing], and thereupon forms it in accordance with what it is meant to be,
Who made and perfected.
He Who has created (everything in the universe) and then (fulfilling all requisites) equipoised it to its exact proportion
and Who ordained precisely and inspired accordingly,
Who measureth, then guideth;
and who determines the nature [of all that exists], and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment],
And who after estimation guided.
And He Who has determined law, and guided (it to its) way (of sustaining and functioning according to its respective system)
and Who brings forth ˹green˺ pasture,
Who bringeth forth the pasturage,
and who brings forth herbage,
And who brought forth the pasturage.
And He Who has brought forth green pasture (from the earth)
then reduces it to withered chaff.
Then turneth it to russet stubble.
and thereupon causes it to decay into rust-brown stubble!
Then turned it dry black.
And then made it blackened stubble
We will have you recite ˹the Quran, O Prophet,˺ so you will not forget ˹any of it˺,
We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget
WE SHALL teach thee, and thou wilt not forget [aught of what thou art taught],
Now We shall teach you that you shall never forget it.
(O Esteemed Beloved!) We shall teach you (in a way) that nothing will you (ever) forget
unless Allah wills otherwise. He surely knows what is open and what is hidden.
Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden;
save what God may will [thee to forget] - for, verily, He [alone] knows all that is open to [man's] perception as well as all that is hidden [from it]
But whatever Allah wills, undoubtedly, He knows the open and the hidden.
Except what Allah wills. Indeed, He knows all, the manifest as well as the hidden (i.e., open to human perception as well as veiled from it, and the audible and the inaudible)
We will facilitate for you the Way of Ease.
And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease.
and [thus] shall We make easy for thee the path towards [ultimate] ease.
And We shall make for you the things easy.
And We shall (also) facilitate you (to put into practice this) easy (law)
So ˹always˺ remind ˹with the Quran˺—˹even˺ if the reminder is beneficial ˹only to some˺.
Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder.
REMIND, THEN, [others of the truth, regardless of] whether this reminding [would seem to] be of use [or not]:
Therefore, admonish you, if admonition is profitable.
So keep admonishing, provided admonition benefits (the listeners)
Those in awe ˹of Allah˺ will be mindful ˹of it˺.
He will heed who feareth,
in mind will keep it he who stands in awe [of God],
Soon he who fears will be admonished.
But only he who fears (Allah) will accept the admonition
But it will be shunned by the most wretched,
But the most hapless will flout it,
but aloof from it will remain that most hapless wretch –
And the evil fated will be away from it.
And the wretched one will avoid and evade it
who will burn in the greatest Fire,
He who will be flung to the great Fire
he who [in the life to come] shall have to endure the great fire
He who will enter the greatest fire.
He who will enter the greatest Fire (on the Day of Judgment)
where they will not ˹be able to˺ live or die.
Wherein he will neither die nor live.
wherein he will neither die nor remain alive.
Then he will neither die there in nor live.
Then he will neither die nor live in it
Successful indeed are those who purify themselves,
He is successful who groweth,
To happiness [in the life to come] will indeed attain he who attains to purity [in this world],
Undoubtedly, he attained to his goal who purified.
Indeed, only he who is purified (from the afflictions of his ill-commanding self and pollution of sins) will triumph
remember the Name of their Lord, and pray.
And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth,
and remembers his Sustainer's name, and prays [unto Him].
And offered prayer remembering the name of his Lord.
And the one who remembers the Name of his Lord and offers Prayers (regularly and abundantly)
But you ˹deniers only˺ prefer the life of this world,
But ye prefer the life of the world
But nay, [O men,] you prefer the life of this world,
But you prefer the living world.
Yet you go for the (pleasures of) the worldly life (instead of turning towards Allah)
even though the Hereafter is far better and more lasting.
Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
although the life to come is better and more enduring.
And the Hereafter is better and lasting.
Whereas (the comfort and pleasure of) the Hereafter is preferable and everlasting
This is certainly ˹mentioned˺ in the earlier Scriptures—
Lo! This is in the former scrolls.
Verily, [all] this has indeed been [said] in the earlier revelations –
Undoubtedly, this is in the ancient Books.
Indeed, this (enlightenment) is (also contained) in earlier scriptures
the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
The Books of Abraham and Moses.
the revelations of Abraham and Moses.
In the scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa
The scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses)
