None disputes the signs of Allah except the disbelievers, so do not be deceived by their prosperity throughout the land.

None argue concerning the revelations of Allah save those who disbelieve, so let not their turn of fortune in the land deceive thee (O Muhammad).

NONE BUT THOSE who are bent on denying the truth would call God’s messages in question. But let it not deceive thee that they seem to be able to do as they please on earth:

None disputes about the signs of Allah but the infidels. Let not then, O listener, their swaggering about in the cities deceive you.

No one disputes about the Revelations of Allah except those who do not believe. So let not their moving about (freely) in the cities delude you

Before them, the people of Noah denied ˹the truth˺, as did ˹other˺ enemy forces afterwards. Every community plotted against its prophet to seize him, and argued in falsehood, ˹hoping˺ to discredit the truth with it. So I seized them. And how ˹horrible˺ was My punishment!

The folk of Noah and the factions after them denied (their messengers) before these, and every nation purposed to seize their messenger and argued falsely, (thinking) thereby to refute the Truth. Then I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment.

to the truth gave the lie, before their time, the people of Noah and, after them, all those [others] who were leagued together [against God’s message-bearers]; and each of those communities schemed against the apostle sent unto them, aiming to lay hands on him; and they contended [against his message] with fallacious arguments, so as to render void the truth thereby: but then I took them to task - and how awesome was My retribution!

Before them, the people of Nuh and other groups after them belied, and every nation aimed that they may seize their Messenger, and disputed with false arguments that they may relent the truth, so I seized them: How then was My torment?

Before them the people of Nuh (Noah) and after them many (other) communities rejected (their Messengers). And every people intended to seize its Messenger (to assassinate or imprison him), and raised dispute through baseless issues to dilute (the influence of) the truth by means of that (dispute). So I seized them (in torment). So how was (My) torment

And so your Lord’s decree has been proven true against the disbelievers—that they will be the inmates of the Fire.

Thus was the word of thy Lord concerning those who disbelieve fulfilled: That they are owners of the Fire.

And thus shall thy Sustainer’s word come true against all who are bent on denying the truth: they shall find themselves in the fire [of hell].

And thus the word of your Lord has been proved against the infidels that they are the inmates of the Fire.

That is how the judgment of your Lord was fulfilled against those who disbelieved. Surely, they are the inmates of Hell

Those ˹angels˺ who carry the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, have faith in Him, and seek forgiveness for the believers, ˹praying:˺ “Our Lord! Those who bear the Throne, and all who are round about it, hymn the praises of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who believe (saying): Our Lord! THEY WHO BEAR [within themselves the knowledge of] the throne of [God’s] almightiness, as well as all who are near it, extol their Sustainer’s limitless glory and praise, and have faith in Him, and ask forgiveness for all [others] who have attained to faith: “O our Sustainer! Those who bear the Throne and those around it sanctify their Lord with praise and believe in Him and beg forgiveness for the Muslims, O' our Lord; You comprehend every thing in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repented and followed Your way and save them from the torment of Hell'

The angels who are bearing the Throne and those who are around it, (all) glorify their Lord with His praise and believe in Him and pray for forgiveness of the believers (and submit): ‘O our Lord, You encompass everything in (Your) mercy and knowledge. So forgive those who turn to You in repentance and follow Your path and protect them from the torment of Hell

Our Lord! Admit them into the Gardens of Eternity which You have promised them, along with the righteous among their parents, spouses, and descendants. You ˹alone˺ are truly the Almighty, All-Wise.

Our Lord! And make them enter the Gardens of Eden which thou hast promised them, with such of their fathers and their wives and their descendants as do right. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, the Wise.

“And, O our Sustainer, bring them into the gardens of perpetual bliss which Thou hast promised them, together with the righteous from among their forebears, and their spouses, and their offspring - for, verily, Thou alone art almighty, truly wise –

'O our Lord! Admit them into gardens of habitation which you have promised them, as well as those who are righteous of their fathers and wives and children. Undoubtedly, You are the Honourable, the Wise

O our Lord! And admit them to the Gardens of Eden (for eternal living) You have promised them. And (also admit with them) the pious ones of their fathers and their wives and their children. Surely, You are Almighty, Most Wise

And protect them from ˹the consequences of their˺ evil deeds. For whoever You protect from the evil of their deeds on that Day will have been shown Your mercy. That is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.”

And ward off from them ill-deeds; and he from whom Thou wardest off ill-deeds that day, him verily hast Thou taken into mercy. That is the supreme triumph.

and preserve them from [doing] evil deeds: for anyone whom on that Day [of Judgment] Thou wilt have preserved from [the taint of] evil deeds, him wilt Thou have graced with Thy mercy: and that, that will be the triumph supreme!”

And save them from the adversity of sins, and whomsoever you save from the adversity of sin that day then no doubt, You have shown mercy upon him. And this is the great triumph.

And save them from (the punishment of) sins. And the one You have saved from (the punishment of) sins that Day, You have indeed shown him great mercy. And that is great success indeed.

Indeed, it will be announced to the disbelievers, “Allah’s contempt for you—as you disbelieved when invited to belief—was far worse than your contempt for one another ˹Today˺.”

Lo! (on that day) those who disbelieve are informed by proclamation: Verily Allah's abhorrence is more terrible than your abhorrence one of another, when ye were called unto the faith but did refuse.

[But,] behold, as for those who are bent on denying the truth - [on that same Day] a voice will call out unto them: “Indeed, greater than your [present] loathing of yourselves was God’s loathing of you [at the time] when you were called unto faith but went on denying the truth!”

Undoubtedly, those who disbelieved shall be informed that of course the aversion of Allah to you is greater than your own aversion to yourselves to day, when you were called towards the faith and you disbelieved.

Surely, the disbelievers will be called out and addressed: ‘(Today) Allah’s displeasure with you is greater than your own disgust for yourselves whilst you used to deny when called to believe.

They will plead, “Our Lord! You made us lifeless twice, and gave us life twice. Now we confess our sins. So is there any way out?”

They say: Our Lord! Twice hast Thou made us die, and twice hast Thou made us live. Now we confess our sins. Is there any way to go out?

[Whereupon] they will exclaim: “O our Sustainer! Twice hast Thou caused us to die, just as twice Thou hast brought us to life!

They shall say, 'O our Lord, You have caused us to die twice and has given us life twice, now we confess our sins. Is there then any way of getting out of the Fire?

They will say: ‘O our Lord, You have caused us to die twice and You have (also) given us life twice. (Now) we confess our sins. So is there any way out (to escape from this chastisement)?

12

˹They will be told,˺ “˹No!˺ This is because when Allah alone was invoked, you ˹staunchly˺ disbelieved. But when others were associated with Him ˹in worship˺, you ˹readily˺ believed. So ˹Today˺ judgment belongs to Allah ˹alone˺—the Most High, All-Great.”

(It is said unto them): This is (your plight) because, when Allah only was invoked, ye disbelieved, but when some partner was ascribed to Him ye were believing. But the command belongeth only to Allah, the Sublime, the Majestic.

[And they will be told:] “This [has befallen you] because, whenever the One God was invoked, you denied this truth; whereas, when divinity was ascribed to aught beside Him, you believed [in it]! But all judgment rests with God, the Exalted, the Great!”

This happened because, when only one Allah was proclaimed, you disbelieved, but when partners were associated to Him, you believed. Therefore, the command is for Allah Who is the Highest, the Greatest.

(It will be said to them: ‘No,) this (eternal punishment) is because, when Allah alone was called upon, you used to deny, but when (something) was associated with Him, you used to believe. So (now) the command is Allah’s alone, Who is Most High, Supreme.

13

He is the One Who shows you His signs and sends down ˹rain as˺ a provision for you from the sky. ˹But˺ none will be mindful except those who turn ˹to Him˺.

He it is Who showeth you His portents, and sendeth down for you provision from the sky. None payeth heed save him who turneth (unto Him) repentant.

HE IT IS who shows you His wonders [in all nature], and sends down sustenance for you from the sky: but none bethinks himself [thereof] save those who are wont to turn to God.

It is He Who shows you His signs and sends down for you provision from the sky. And none receives admonitions but he who repents.

He is the One Who shows you His signs and sends down sustenance for you from the heaven. And only he who remains inclined (to Allah alone) accepts advice

14

So call upon Allah with sincere devotion, even to the dismay of the disbelievers.

Therefor (O believers) pray unto Allah, making religion pure for Him (only), however much the disbelievers be averse -

Invoke, then, God, sincere in your faith in Him alone, however hateful this may be to those who deny the truth!

Therefore, serve only Allah devoted purely to Him even though the infidels may take it as bad.

So worship Allah for His own sake in sincere obedience and true devotion, even though the disbelievers may despise it

the Day all will appear ˹before Allah˺. Nothing about them will be hidden from Him. ˹He will ask,˺ “Who does all authority belong to this Day? To Allah—the One, the Supreme!

The day when they come forth, nothing of them being hidden from Allah. Whose is the Sovereignty this day? It is Allah's, the One, the Almighty.

the Day when they shall come forth [from death], with nothing of themselves hidden from God. With whom will sovereignty rest on that Day? With God, the One who holds absolute sway over all that exists!

The day when they will fully appear; nothing of theirs shall be hidden from Allah. Whose is the Kingdom to day? Of one Allah, All Dominant.

The Day when they all will come forth (from the graves), and nothing of their (deeds) will remain hidden from Allah, (He will say:) ‘Whose is the Kingdom this Day?’ (It will be further added:) ‘It belongs to Allah, the One, the Most Dominant.

Warn them ˹O Prophet˺ of the approaching Day when the hearts will jump into the throats, suppressing distress. The wrongdoers will have neither a close friend nor intercessor to be heard.

Warn them (O Muhammad) of the Day of the approaching (doom), when the hearts will be choking the throats, (when) there will be no friend for the wrong-doers, nor any intercessor who will be heard.

Hence, warn them of that Day which draws ever nearer, when the hearts will chokingly come up to the throats: no loving friend will the evildoers have, nor any intercessor who would be heeded:

And warn them of that Approaching Day of Calamity when the hearts will reach to the throats full of grief. The unjust shall have neither friend nor any intercessor whose request may be acceded to.

And warn them of the Day of impending calamity when hearts will rise to throats due to the suppressed grief. The wrongdoers will have neither any kind friend nor any influential intercessor

Allah ˹even˺ knows the sly glances of the eyes and whatever the hearts conceal.

He knoweth the traitor of the eyes, and that which the bosoms hide.

[for] He is aware of the [most] stealthy glance, and of all that the hearts would conceal.

Allah knows the treacherous eyes and what is concealed in the breasts.

He knows the treacherous eyes, and also those secrets which the breasts hide (inside them)

And Allah judges with the truth, while those ˹idols˺ they invoke besides Him cannot judge at all. Indeed, Allah ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

Allah judgeth with truth, while those to whom they cry instead of Him judge not at all. Lo! Allah, He is the Hearer, the Seer.

And God will judge in accordance with truth and justice, whereas those [beings] whom they invoke beside Him cannot judge at all: for, verily, God alone is all-hearing, all-seeing.

And Allah decides with truth. But those whom they worship beside Him decide nothing. Undoubtedly Allah is All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might and ˹richer in˺ monuments throughout the land. But Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah.

Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those who disbelieved before them? They were mightier than these in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. Yet Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah.

Have they, then, never journeyed about the earth and beheld what happened in the end to those [deniers of the truth] who lived before their time? Greater were they in power than they are, and in the impact which they left on earth: but God took them to task for their sins, and they had none to defend them against God:

Have they not traveled in the earth, so that they may see how has been the end of those before them? They were greater than them in strength and in marks, they left in the earth; Yet Allah seized them for their sins. And there was none to save them from Allah.

And have they not travelled in the land so that they could see what was the end of those who were before them? They were far mightier in power than these and (also) greater in their remains and signs (which they left behind) in the earth. Then Allah seized them for their sins, and there was none to protect them from (the torment of) Allah

That was because their messengers kept bringing them clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) but they disbelieved; so Allah seized them. Lo! He is Strong, severe in punishment.

this, because their apostles had come to them with all evidence of the truth, and yet they rejected it: and so God took them to task - for, verily, He is powerful, severe in retribution!

This because their Messengers came to them with bright Signs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Undoubtedly Allah is Mighty, Severe in punishment.

That was because their Messengers brought them open signs but they denied. So Allah seized them (in the torment). Surely, He is All-Powerful, Most Severe in punishing

Then, when he came to them with the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who believe with him and keep their women.” But the plotting of the disbelievers was only in vain.

And when he brought them the Truth from Our presence, they said: Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and spare their women. But the plot of disbelievers is in naught but error.

Now [as for Pharaoh and his followers,] when he came to them, setting forth the truth from Us, they said, “Slay the sons of those who share his beliefs, and spare [only] their women!” - but the guile of those deniers of the truth could not lead to aught but failure.

Then when he brought to them the truth from Us, they said, 'slay the sons of those who believed with him and let their women alive'. And the plot of the infidels is nothing but going astray.

Then when he came to them with the message of truth from Us, they said: ‘Kill the sons of those who have believed with him but leave their women alive.’ And the treacherous plots of the disbelievers were nothing but ruination. (They massacred the generations of peaceful community.

And Pharaoh said: “Leave it to me to slay Moses - and let him invoke his [alleged] sustainer! Behold, I fear lest he cause you to change your religion, or lest he cause corruption to prevail in the land!”

And Firawn said, 'leave me that I may kill Musa and let him call his Lord. I fear lest he should change your religion or he may cause to appear disorder in the earth'.

And Musa said, 'I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant who believes not in the nay of Reckoning.

A believing man from Pharaoh’s people, who was hiding his faith, argued, “Will you kill a man ˹only˺ for saying: ‘My Lord is Allah,’ while he has in fact come to you with clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, it will be to his own loss. But if he is truthful, then you will be afflicted with some of what he is threatening you with. Surely Allah does not guide whoever is a transgressor, a total liar.

And a believing man of Pharaoh's family, who hid his faith, said: Would ye kill a man because he saith: My Lord is Allah, and hath brought you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is lying, then his lie is upon him; and if he is truthful, then some of that wherewith he threateneth you will strike you. Lo! Allah guideth not one who is a prodigal, a liar.

At that, a believing man of Pharaoh’s family, who [until then] had concealed his faith, exclaimed: “Would you slay a man because he says, ‘God is my Sustainer’ - seeing, withal, that he has brought you all evidence of this truth from your Sustainer? Now if he be a liar, his lie will fall back on him; but if he is a man of truth, something [of the punishment] whereof he warns you is bound to befall you: for, verily, God would not grace with His guidance one who has wasted his own self by lying [about Him].

And a Muslim from amongst the people of Firawn who used to hide his faith said, 'Do you slay a man because he says, 'my Lord is Allah', and undoubtedly he has brought to you bright signs from your Lord?' And if he says wrong then the curse of his lie is upon him; but if he is truthful then some of that which he promises you with shall befall you. Undoubtedly Allah gives not the way to him who is transgressor and a big liar.

And a believing man amongst the people of Pharaoh who had kept his faith secret said, ‘Do you kill a man (just) because he says: Allah is my Lord? And he has brought you clear signs from your Lord. And (suppose) if he is a liar, then the burden of his lie will fall back on him alone, but if he is truthful, then as much torment is bound to seize you as he has promised you. Surely, Allah does not give guidance to someone who exceeds limits and is a downright liar

O my people! Yours is the kingdom to-day, ye being uppermost in the land. But who would save us from the wrath of Allah should it reach us? Pharaoh said: I do but show you what I think, and I do but guide you to wise policy.

“O my people! Yours is the dominion today, [and] most eminent are you on earth: but who will rescue us from God’s punishment, once it befalls us?” Said Pharaoh: “I but want to make you see what I see myself; and I would never make you follow any path but that of rectitude!”

'O my people, 'yours is the Kingdom today, you have dominance in this land. But who will save us from the torment of Allah if it comes upon us? Firawn said, 'I show you only that which I see and I tell you only that which is the way of goodness'.

O my people! You are in power today; (it is you who) are ruling over the land (of Egypt). O my people! This worldly life is only ˹a fleeting˺ enjoyment, whereas the Hereafter is truly the home of settlement.

O my people! Lo! this life of the world is but a passing comfort, and lo! the Hereafter, that is the enduring home.

“O my people! This worldly life is but a brief enjoyment, whereas, behold, the life to come is the home abiding.

'O my people; the life of this world is only a temporary enjoyment, and the Hereafter is certainly the home for permanent residence.

O my people! The life of this world is nothing but (a few days’) gain, and the Hereafter is certainly a home to live in forever

Whoever does an evil deed will only be paid back with its equivalent. And whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, they will enter Paradise, where they will be provided for without limit.

Whoso doeth an ill-deed, he will be repaid the like thereof, while whoso doeth right, whether male or female, and is a believer, (all) such will enter the Garden, where they will be nourished without stint.

[There,] anyone who has done a bad deed will be requited with no more than the like thereof, whereas anyone, be it man or woman, who has done righteous deeds and is a believer withal - all such will enter paradise, wherein they shall be blest with good beyond all reckoning!

Whoso does an evil deed, shall be recompensed only with the like of it and whoso does good work whether male or female and be a Muslim, then they shall enter the Paradise and they shall be provided therein without count.

He who commits evil will not be rewarded but with the same measure. And whoever behaves piously, whether male or female, and is a believer as well, it is they who will enter Paradise. There they will be given sustenance without measure

O my people! How is it that I invite you to salvation, while you invite me to the Fire!

And, O my people! What aileth me that I call you unto deliverance when ye call me unto the Fire?

“And, O my people, how is it that I summon you to salvation, the while you summon me to the fire?

'O my people', what happened to me that I call you towards deliverance while you call me towards the Fire.

And, O my people, why is it that I call you to salvation and you call me to Hell

You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him what I have no knowledge of, while I invite you to the Almighty, Most Forgiving.

Ye call me to disbelieve in Allah and ascribe unto Him as partners that whereof I have no knowledge, while I call you unto the Mighty, the Forgiver.

- [for] you call upon me to deny [the oneness of] God and to ascribe a share in His divinity to aught of which I cannot [possibly] have any knowledge the while I summon you to [a cognition of] the Almighty, the All-Forgiving!

You call me towards this that I should disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, while I invite you towards the Honourable, the Great Forgiver.

You invite me to deny Allah, and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, whilst I invite you to the Almighty God, Who is Most Forgiving

There is no doubt that whatever ˹idols˺ you invite me to ˹worship˺ are not worthy to be invoked either in this world or the Hereafter. ˹Undoubtedly,˺ our return is to Allah, and the transgressors will be the inmates of the Fire.

Assuredly that whereunto ye call me hath no claim in the world or in the Hereafter, and our return will be unto Allah, and the prodigals will be owners of the Fire.

“There is no doubt that what you summon me to is something that has no claim to being invoked either in this world or in the life to come - as [there is no doubt] that unto God is our return, and that they who have wasted their own selves shall find themselves in the fire:

It is proved itself that to which you call me, is of no use anywhere neither in the world nor in the Hereafter; and that our return is towards Allah and that the transgressors, they are the inmates of the Fire.

The truth is that what you are calling me to is not worth calling either in this world or in the Hereafter. And surely, our return is to Allah alone, and certainly those who transgress are the inmates of Hell

and at that time you will [have cause to] remember what I am telling you [now]. “But [as for me,] I commit myself unto God: for, verily, God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His servants.”

So soon, the time comes that you shall remember what I am saying to you. And I entrust my affairs to Allah. Undoubtedly Allah sees all His bondmen.

So you will soon recall (these words) that I am saying to you. And I consign my affair to Allah. Surely, Allah is Ever-Watchful of the servants.

So Allah protected him from the evil of their schemes. And Pharaoh’s people were overwhelmed by an evil punishment:

So Allah warded off from him the evils which they plotted, while a dreadful doom encompassed Pharaoh's folk,

And God preserved him from the evil of their scheming, whereas suffering vile was to encompass Pharaoh’s folk:

Then Allah saved him from the evils of their plot and an evil torment surrounded the people of Firawn.

Then Allah safeguarded him against their evils which they were planning. And an evil torment engulfed the people of Pharaoh

˹Consider the Day˺ when they will dispute in the Fire, and the lowly ˹followers˺ will appeal to the arrogant ˹leaders˺, “We were your ˹dedicated˺ followers, will you then shield us from a portion of the Fire?”

And when they wrangle in the Fire, the weak say unto those who were proud: Lo! we were a following unto you; will ye therefor rid us of a portion of the Fire?

AND LO! They [who in life were wont to deny the truth] will contend with one another in the fire [of the hereafter]; and then the weak will say unto those who had gloried in their arrogance, “Behold, we were but your followers: can you, then, relieve us of some [of our] share of this fire?”

And when they will dispute with one another in the Fire, then the weak shall say to those who waxed proud, we were your followers, will you then get any portion of the Fire curtailed from us?

And when they will fall out with one another in Hell, the weak will say to those who used to show arrogance (in the world): ‘We were your followers, so can you remove from us (even) a portion of the Fire of Hell?

The arrogant will say, “We are all in it! ˹For˺ Allah has already passed judgment over ˹His˺ servants.”

Those who were proud say: Lo! we are all (together) herein. Lo! Allah hath judged between (His) slaves.

[to which] they who had [once] been arrogant will reply, “Behold, we are all in it [together]! Verily, God has judged between His creatures!”

Those who waxed proud said, 'we are all in the Fire Undoubtedly, Allah has already judged between His bondmen.

Those who practised arrogance will say: ‘We all are doomed in the same Hell; surely, Allah has given His final judgment amongst the servants.

And those in the Fire will cry out to the keepers of Hell, “Pray to your Lord to lighten the torment for us ˹even˺ for one day!”

And those in the Fire say unto the guards of hell: Entreat your Lord that He relieve us of a day of the torment.

And they who are in the fire will say to the keepers of hell, “Pray unto your Sustainer that He lighten, [though it be] for one day [only], this suffering of ours!”

And those in the Fire shall say to the guards of the Hell, pray to your Lord that He may lighten for us a day of torment.

And those burning in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell: ‘Pray to your Lord that He lessens our torment some day.

The keepers will reply, “Did your messengers not ˹constantly˺ come to you with clear proofs?” They will say, “Yes ˹they did˺.” The keepers will say, “Then pray! Though the prayer of the disbelievers is only in vain.”

They say: Came not your messengers unto you with clear proofs? They say: Yea, verily. They say: Then do ye pray, although the prayer of disbelievers is in vain.

[But the keepers of hell] will ask, “Is it not [true] that your apostles came unto you with all evidence of the truth?” Those [in the fire] will reply, “Yea, indeed.” [And the keepers of hell] will say, “Pray, then!” - for the prayer of those who deny the truth cannot lead to aught but delusion.

They said, 'Did not your Messenger use to bring to you bright signs'? They said, 'why not', they said, 'then you your selves pray'. And the praying of the infidels is not but in wandering.

They will say: ‘Did your Messengers not come to you with clear signs?’ They will reply: ‘Yes, of course.’ (Then the keepers) will say: ‘So pray yourselves.’ But the disbelievers’ prayer will (always) be in vain

BEHOLD, We shall indeed succour Our apostles and those who have attained to faith, [both] in this world’s life and on the Day when all the witnesses shall stand up

No doubt, We shall certainly help Our Messengers and the believers in the life of the world and on the day witnesses shall stand forth.

The day when to the unjust people their excuses will not profit, and for them is the curse and for them is the evil abode.

The Day when the excuse of the wrongdoers will not benefit them. And there will be the curse on them, and for them will be the evil home (in Hell)

And, indeed, We bestowed aforetime [Our] guidance on Moses, and [thus] made the children of Israel heirs to the divine writ [revealed to him]

And undoubtedly, We bestowed guidance to Musa and made the children of Israel the inheritors of the Book.

And verily We gave Musa ([Moses] the Book of) guidance, and (after him) We made the Children of Israel the inheritors of that (Book)

So be patient ˹O Prophet˺, ˹for˺ Allah’s promise is certainly true. Seek forgiveness for your shortcomings. And glorify the praises of your Lord morning and evening.

Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy sin, and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours.

hence, remain thou patient in adversity - for, verily, God’s promise always comes true - and ask forgiveness for thy sins, and extol thy Sustainer’s glory and praise by night and by day.

Therefore O beloved, 'be patient, no doubt, the promise of Allah is true and beg forgiveness for the sins of your owns, and celebrate Sanctity of your Lord praising Him morning and evening.

Surely those who dispute Allah’s signs—with no proof given to them—have nothing in their hearts but greed for dominance, which they will never attain. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

Lo! those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah without a warrant having come unto them, there is naught else in their breasts save pride which they will never attain. So take thou refuge in Allah. Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Seer.

Behold, as for those who call God’s messages in question without having any evidence therefore in their hearts is nothing but overweening self-conceit, which they will never be able to satisfy: seek thou, then, refuge with God - for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-seeing!

Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without any authority they may have got, there is nothing in their hearts but an ambition of greatness to which they shall not reach, so seek you refuge in Allah. Undoubtedly, He sees, Hears.

Surely, those who argue about the Revelations of Allah without any authority having come to them, there is nothing in their breasts except vain superiority; they will never be able to attain to that (true superiority). So keep seeking refuge with Allah (from their evil). Surely, He alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing

The creation of the heavens and the earth is certainly greater than the re-creation of humankind, but most people do not know.

Assuredly the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of mankind; but most of mankind know not.

Greater indeed than the creation of man is the creation of the heavens and the earth: yet most men do not understand [what this implies].

Of course, the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people know not.

Those blind ˹to the truth˺ and those who can see are not equal, nor are those who believe and do good ˹equal˺ to those who do evil. Yet you are hardly mindful.

And the blind man and the seer are not equal, neither are those who believe and do good works (equal with) the evil-doer. Little do ye reflect!

But [then,] the blind and the seeing are not equal; and neither [can] they who have attained to faith and do good works and the doers of evil [be deemed equal]. How seldom do you keep this in mind!

And the blind and the seeing are not equal, and neither those who have believed and have done good equal to the evil doers. How little do you reflect?

And the blind and the seeing cannot be equal. So (in the same way) those who believe and do righteous works and the evildoers cannot be (alike). You accept direction and guidance but little

The Hour is certainly coming, there is no doubt about it. But most people do not believe.

Lo! the Hour is surely coming, there is no doubt thereof; yet most of mankind believe not.

Verily, the Last Hour is sure to come: of this there is no doubt; yet most men will not believe it.

Undoubtedly, the Hour is certainly to come, there is no doubt in it, but most people believe not.

Surely, the Last Hour is bound to come. There is no doubt in that. Yet most people do not believe

Your Lord has proclaimed, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Surely those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell, fully humbled.”

And your Lord hath said: Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer. Lo! those who scorn My service, they will enter hell, disgraced.

But your Sustainer says: “Call unto Me, [and] I shall respond to you! Verily, they who are too proud to worship Me will enter hell, abased!”

And your Lord said, 'Pray to Me, I shall acknowledge your call. Undoubtedly those who are too proud to worship Me, soon will enter the Hell despised.

And your Lord has said: ‘Always pray to Me; I shall certainly grant your prayer. Surely, those who turn away from My worship in defiance will soon enter Hell disgraced.

Allah it is Who hath appointed for you night that ye may rest therein, and day for seeing. Lo! Allah is a Lord of bounty for mankind, yet most of mankind give not thanks.

IT IS GOD who has made the night for you, so that you might rest therein, and the day, to make [you] see. Behold, God is indeed limitless in His bounty unto man - but most men are ungrateful.

Allah is He who made for you night that you may get rest in it and made the day enabling you to see. Undoubtedly, Allah is gracious to mankind but most men are ungrateful.

Allah is the One Who has made the night for you to repose in and brightened the day to see; surely, Allah is Bountiful to mankind but most people do not give thanks

Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things, There is no Allah save Him. How then are ye perverted?

Such is God, your Sustainer, the Creator of all that exists: there is no deity save Him. How perverted, then, are your minds!

That is Allah, your Lord the Creator of everything, None is to be worshipped save He. So whither, are you straying away?

Thus are they perverted who deny the revelations of Allah.

Thus, stray away those who reject the signs of Allah.

Likewise, those who used to deny the Revelations of Allah were wandering distracted

He is the One Who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then ˹developed you into˺ a clinging clot ˹of blood˺, then He brings you forth as infants, so that you may reach your prime, and become old—though some of you ˹may˺ die sooner—reaching an appointed time, so perhaps you may understand ˹Allah’s power˺.

He it is Who created you from dust, then from a drop (of seed) then from a clot, then bringeth you forth as a child, then (ordaineth) that ye attain full strength and afterward that ye become old men - though some among you die before - and that ye reach an appointed term, that haply ye may understand.

It is He who creates you out of dust, and then out of a drop of sperm, and then out of a germ-cell; and then He brings you forth as children; and then [He ordains] that you reach maturity, and then, that you grow old - though some of you [He causes to] die earlier -: and [all this He ordains] so that you might reach a term set [by Him], and that you might [learn to] use your reason.

He it is Who made you from dust, then from sperm drop, then from a clot of blood, then He brings you forth as an infant, then He causes you to live so that you may attain to your maturity then that you may become old, and some of you are caused to die before and that you may reach to an appointed promise and that you may learn.

He is the One Who initiated (the genesis of) your (chemical life) from clay, then (your biological genesis) from a sperm drop (zygote), then from a hanging mass (in the mother’s womb). Then (eventually) He is the One Who brings you forth as an infant, then (nourishes you), so that you may reach your maturity. (Then He grants you a period of life) so that you may grow old. And some of you die early (before senility). And (the purpose of all this is) that you may complete your respective appointed terms and (also) that you may comprehend

It is He who grants life and deals death; and when He wills a thing to be, He but says unto it, “Be” - and it is.

He is He who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a thing, He says to it only, 'Be', hence it becomes.

So be patient ˹O Prophet˺. Surely Allah’s promise is true. Whether We show you some of what We threaten them with, or cause you to die ˹before that˺, to Us they will ˹all˺ be returned.

Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And whether we let thee see a part of that which We promise them, or (whether) We cause thee to die, still unto Us they will be brought back.

HENCE, remain thou patient in adversity - for, verily, God’s promise always comes true. And whether We show thee [in this world] something of what We hold in store for those [deniers of the truth], or whether We cause thee to die [ere that retribution takes place - know that, in the end], it is unto Us that they will be brought back.

So be you patient, no doubt, the promise of Allah is true, then whether We let you see something of what We have promised them or We cause you to die before, in any case they are to return to us.

So keep patience. Surely, Allah’s promise is true. Then whether We show you a portion of that (torment) which We have promised them, or make you depart from the visible life before that, (in both cases) they will be returned to Us

We already sent messengers before you. We have told you the stories of some of them, while others We have not. It was not for any messenger to bring a sign without Allah’s permission. But when Allah’s decree comes, judgment will be passed with fairness, and the people of falsehood will then be in ˹total˺ loss.

Verily We sent messengers before thee, among them those of whom We have told thee, and some of whom We have not told thee; and it was not given to any messenger that he should bring a portent save by Allah's leave, but when Allah's commandment cometh (the cause) is judged aright, and the followers of vanity will then be lost.

And, indeed, [O Muhammad,] We sent forth apostles before thy time; some of them We have mentioned to thee, and some of them We have not mentioned to thee. And it was not given to any apostle to bring forth a miracle other than by God’s leave. Yet when God’s will becomes manifest, judgment will [already] have been passed in all justice, and lost will be, then and there, all who tried to reduce to nothing [whatever they could not understand].

And undoubtedly, We sent many Messengers before you, of them, there are some whose story We have narrated to you, and there are some whose story We have not narrated to you, and it is not for any Messenger that he should bring any sign without Allah's permission, but when the command of Allah will come, the matter shall be decided with truth, and then the men of falsehood shall lose there.

And no doubt We sent many Messengers before you. We have given you an account of some of them whilst We have not (yet) narrated to you the annals of some others. And it was not possible for any Messenger to bring any sign without Allah’s leave. Then when the command of Allah came (and) the judgment was given with truth and justice, the exponents of evil went into loss

Also, you find in them ˹other˺ benefits. And by means of them you may reach destinations you desire. And you are carried upon ˹some of˺ them and upon ships.

(Many) benefits ye have from them - and that ye may satisfy by their means a need that is in your breasts, and may be borne upon them as upon the ship.

and find [yet other] benefits in them; and that through them you may attain to the fulfillment of [many] a heartfelt need: for on them, as on ships, you are borne [through life].

And there are many benefits for you in them and that you may attain to the desires of your hearts on their backs and on them and on boats you ride.

And in them are for you other benefits too. So you may ride them (further) to reach that desired (place) which is (determined) in your hearts, and (that) you are borne on them and the boats

And He shows you His signs. Now which of Allah’s signs will you deny?

And He showeth you His tokens. Which, then, of the tokens of Allah do ye deny?

And [thus] He displays His wonders before you: which, then, of God’s wonders can you still deny?

And He shows you His signs, and then which of the signs of Allah will you deny?

And He shows you (many of) His signs. So which of Allah’s signs will you deny

Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those who were ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might and ˹richer in˺ monuments throughout the land, but their ˹worldly˺ gains were of no benefit to them.

Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those before them? They were more numerous than these, and mightier in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. But all that they used to earn availed them not.

HAVE THEY, then, never journeyed about the earth and beheld what happened in the end to those [deniers of the truth] who lived before their time? More numerous were they, and greater in power than they are, and in the impact which they left on earth: but all that they ever achieved was of no avail to them –

Have they not traveled in the earth that they may behold how has been the end of those before them? They were more numerous than these, and stronger in might and the traces in the earth, but what did they avail of that which they earned.

So have they not travelled in the earth that they could see how they who passed before them met their fate? They were far greater (in number) than these people and mightier in power and (much more advanced) in respect of the remains and traces (as well) that (they) have left behind in the earth (as archeological sites). But whatever they used to earn brought them no benefit

When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were prideful in whatever ˹worldly˺ knowledge they had, and were ˹ultimately˺ overwhelmed by what they used to ridicule.

And when their messengers brought them clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) they exulted in the knowledge they (themselves) possessed. And that which they were wont to mock befell them.

for when their apostles came to them with all evidence of the truth, they arrogantly exulted in whatever knowledge they [already] possessed: and [so, in the end,] they were overwhelmed by the very thing which they were wont to deride.

So when, their Messengers brought to them clear arguments they remained joyous the wordily knowledge which they had and what they mocked at recoiled on them.

So when their Messengers came to them with manifest signs, they kept rejoicing in the pride of (the worldly) knowledge and skill they possessed. And (in the same state) that torment which they used to mock engulfed them

When they saw Our punishment, they cried, “˹Now˺ we believe in Allah alone and reject what we had been associating with Him!”

Then, when they saw Our doom, they said: We believe in Allah only and reject (all) that we used to associate (with Him).

And then, when they [clearly] beheld Our punishment, they said: “We have come to believe in the One God, and we have renounced all belief in that to which we were wont to ascribe a share in His divinity!”

Then when they saw Our torment said, We believe in only one Allah and we deny all that which we used to associate with Him.

But when they saw Our torment, they started saying: ‘We believe in Allah, the One, and reject (all) those we used to associate with Him as partners.

But their faith was of no benefit to them when they saw Our torment. This has ˹always˺ been Allah’s way ˹of dealing˺ with His ˹wicked˺ servants. Then and there the disbelievers were in ˹total˺ loss.

But their faith could not avail them when they saw Our doom. This is Allah's law which hath ever taken course for His bondmen. And then the disbelievers will be ruined.

But their attaining to faith after they had beheld Our punishment could not possibly benefit them such being the way of God that has always obtained for His creatures -: and so, then and there, lost were they who had denied the truth.

But their belief was of no use to them when they had seen Our torment. This is Allah's law, which has been in regard to His bondmen. And the infidels remained in loss there.

Then their acceptance of faith could not profit them at all whilst they had seen Our torment. That is Allah’s way which has always been in practice in respect of His servants, and the disbelievers always suffered heavy loss at this juncture
